First Video Blog Post Feb. 20th, 2011

This will be my first post on my weight loss blog where i am going to try to keep the best account of my thoughts and feelings along the way with my weight loss surgery. I hope the information i keep with the blog will help anyone looking for information about Lap Band surgery.

    Hey Mark,

    I'm Dwight, good friends with your dad, he sent me the link to your blog. As you probably know I had the surgery done Nov 25th. Just want to wish you the best of luck with yours. Expect some discomfort for a few days while your gas dissolves from surgery, and the swelling goes down/band settles in. I don't regret getting the band at all but I disagree with some of the sales tactics used when they sold it too us. My suggestion to you is don't have unrealistic expectations. Keep in the back of your mind what this band can do and how it works, because it is a tool, not a miracle cure. If you follow the band rules you will lose weight. You being a big guy like myself (I was 510lbs) will probably lose fast at first. What the band does for me is prevent me from gorging myself at meal times. You can still make unhealthy choices, especially with snacking, and liquid calories cannot be stopped by the band, so do what they say. When you get back on solids, eat solid healthy food and don't drink with your meals. And you will likely need a couple of adjustments after surgery to hit the sweet spot. I've had one adjustment and I feel very very close to the sweet spot.
